What's the difference between intrinsic safety and explosion-proof?
Explosion-proof (flameproof) equipment contains an internal explosion so it can't ignite the surrounding atmosphere. Intrinsic safety (Ex i) instead limits the energy in the circuit so it can never produce an igniting spark or hot surface. R. STAHL specializes in intrinsically-safe systems; the right approach depends on the application and is confirmed by a qualified person.
